According to JD(U) leader KC Tyagi, there was strong opposition to the Agnipath plan, and this was seen in the results of the elections.
In its third term, the BJP will be put to the test in its coalition, and on Thursday, Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), the party’s ally, made it clear that it would like to see the Agnipath Army recruiting scheme reviewed. JD(U) leader KC Tyagi stated that the elections demonstrated the hostility towards the Agnipath program.
“A revision of the Agnipath system is necessary. The plan was met with strong criticism, and KC Tyagi remarked that this opposition was evident in the results of the elections.
In an effort to trim the defense pension bill and make the armed services more lean, the Center unveiled the Agnipath concept in 2022.
Under the plan, people are hired for four-year contracts to serve in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Just 25% of all yearly recruits are granted permanent commission, allowing them to serve for an additional 15 years. Large-scale demonstrations were sparked by the plan in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
